Geelong psychologist provides support for students in the new school year

January 5 2018

With students returning to school in February it is important to address the increase in mental health referrals for students in the area during 2017.

Professional stress management counselling services are available for students who may feel overwhelmed or unable to cope both mentally and physically with the rigorous demands of the school year. I am a trained Geelong Psychologist with many years experience and the ability to cater treatment plans that can help you or your child get back on track.

The Geelong headspace director  Malcolm Scott announced that there had been an increase of 500 students accessing services for mental health related issues. With an ongoing demand existing for mental health services it helps to think about how these available services may improve a students overall well-being at school.

Understanding the outlook of a student and working with them to come up with methods they can use to effectively navigate the challenges that they face goes a long way in improving their experience at school, and their mentality heading into the future. Many students entering VCE struggle with mental health issues that can adversely affect their productivity in the classroom and at home.

I am able to work with students to develop study and learning plans that can greatly improve their focus, and help to ease some of the pressure from upcoming exams and assignments. Depression, anxiety and overall stress is unfortunately increasingly prevalent among young people . Having a professional Geelong Psychologist that is able to listen and provide guidance during these troubling and often uncertain times allows young people to see that things can get better, and that they can work to create an enjoyable future for themselves.
